Arkansas State University Learning Support Services Receives Accreditation

09/30/2024

JONESBORO - Arkansas State University announced the Writing Center, SMART Center, and Learning Support Services have received three accreditations from the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).

Kelli Listenbee, director of assessment at A-State, says the level I, II, and III accreditation from the CRLA's International Tutor Training Program (ITTPC) will help advance the Learning Support Services department.

"Certification at all three levels will allow this group to certify individual tutors in their professional development efforts as they work through the stellar training program that this group built and hosts on a two-year cycle," Listenbee explained.

The accreditation is achieved through collaborative efforts between the Learning Support Services, Writing Center, and the SMART (Sciences, and Mathematics, Academic, Resources, and Tutoring) Center, which serves as an academic resource for students enrolled in the Beck College of Sciences and Mathematics.

Listenbee says receiving the certification has been a longtime goal.

"This is a huge accomplishment, and something this group of directors has been working on for a few years," said Listenbee.

Accreditation from the College Reading and Learning Association's ITTPC endorses tutoring programs at the postsecondary level, working alongside institution staff to create, deliver and further tutoring assistance on campus.
