Check for Open Vehicle Safety Recalls and Stay Safe on the Road

The Newton Police Department urges drivers to prioritize their safety by checking for open vehicle safety recalls. In partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), we remind everyone that safe cars save lives, and every recall is a safety-related issue that needs immediate attention.

NHTSA provides free, user-friendly recall tools so you can check for open recalls on your vehicles, motorcycles, tires, and car seats. Visit NHTSA.gov/recalls and enter your license plate or 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN). In seconds, you'll know if your vehicle has an open recall. You can also sign up for safety recall alerts or download the SaferCar app to stay informed in real time.

Every recall repair is free. If your vehicle has a recall, schedule a repair at your nearest dealer as soon as possible. Remember, it's essential to check regularly - especially if you have a used vehicle or haven't been receiving recall notices.

For more information, visit NHTSA.gov/Recalls. Keep your car safe, protect yourself, and prevent accidents before they happen!
