Suspect Arrested for Property Destruction Following Foot Pursuit in U-District

Seattle police arrested a 42-year-old-male for property destruction following a foot pursuit in the University District Monday morning.

On August 26th, at 6:59 a.m., patrol officers responded to a report of a male breaking a storefront window with a rock in the 4700 block of Brooklyn Avenue Northeast.

Officers arrived and located the suspect. He disobeyed lawful commands and ran from police but was quickly apprehended. He was uncooperative with police officers. A security guard assisted in taking him into custody.

Police further investigated and learned the male was "behaving erratically," inside the store, ate food without payment, and smashed a glass bottle on the sidewalk.

The suspect was arrested and booked into King County Jail in lieu of $3,500 bail. Detectives with the General Investigations Unit were assigned to this case.

Charges were referred to the Seattle City Attorney's Office for Property Destruction, Theft, and Obstructing a Public Officer.
