Airline Launch Recap: Aeromexico IAD-MEX
Airline and airport executives, staff and passengers gathered Monday at Dulles International Airport to celebrate the launch of Aeromexico's nonstop service from Washington, D.C., to Mexico City, Mexico, on a Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft. The inaugural flight departed from Gate B79.
Airports Authority leadership, board members and special guests celebrated the launch, including Mexican ambassador Moctezuma Barragán and representatives from Destination DC.
Speaking at the event on behalf of the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority, Vice President for Airline Business Development Paul Bobson said, "International air service like this new flight from Aeromexico is critical to the economic success of our local community. Each flight at our airport supports thousands of local jobs. In fact, the service on Aeromexico alone generates more than $24 million in annual local positive economic impact."
The flight is equipped with 150 seats in economy class and 16 in premier, along with free messaging, onboard entertainment and complimentary snacks, meals and drink services, including alcoholic drinks.
The schedule for the new service is below:
Alejandra Reyes, public affairs manager for Aeromexico, said, "In the Aeromexico-Delta alliance we are committed to continuing to offer an increasingly integrated service and better travel options for our customers. Today, we are not only opening this route in Washington, D.C., but we are connecting Mexico City with Salt Lake City, Raleigh and Tampa Bay."

Passengers at the gate were treated to a lively musical performance by a mariachi band, as well as tacos and churros from Rusty Taco - a homegrown restaurant chain.
Beginning in January 2024, Aeromexico introduced more than 10 new routes from six airports in Mexico to eight destinations in the United States. This would represent an increase of 30 percent in departures compared to 2023, with a presence in 23 cities across the United States. By the end of 2024, the Aeromexico-Delta alliance expects to operate more than 60 routes between both countries, offering around 90 daily operations.
