The Taste of the Valley vendor market - the second event in the 2024 series - is taking place on Saturday, September 7, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Killaloe at the municipal hall parking lot, located at 1 John Street.

Organized by the County of Renfrew's Economic Development Division, the Taste of the Valley event series highlights all things grown, made and created in Renfrew County. While the original concept for the Taste of the Valley was to promote and support local food producers in the Ottawa Valley, over the years the events have evolved to encourage an expanded focus on the notion of "taste" with the celebration of local food, products, art and culture.

The Killaloe event will feature more than 60 vendors set up in the parking lot of the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards municipal hall and will include fresh local produce alongside unique handcrafted products from talented artists and artisans, as well as baked goods, prepared hot food, jams and preserves from bakers and food producers across Renfrew County.

"I'm thrilled to see the Taste of the Valley event making its debut in Killaloe!" says Colton Charbonneau, Community Development Coordinator for the Township of Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards. "This exciting occasion promises to bring a vibrant array of local flavors and community spirit to our township for the very first time."

Under a new approach which began in 2023, Taste of the Valley events in 2024 are being held in partnership with host municipalities in Madawaska Valley; Killaloe, Hagarty and Richards; Petawawa, and Whitewater Region, drawing thousands of visitors from the Ottawa Valley, Ottawa and surrounding areas. The 2024 Holiday edition is being hosted in partnership with the Town of Renfrew.

"Taste of the Valley events always feature a variety of local vendors, including farmers, artists, artisans, bakers, and food producers. The events celebrate local culture and support the regional economy by connecting producers directly with consumers," notes Scott Hamilton, Economic Development Coordinator with the County of Renfrew's Economic Development Division.
