Montana State to host Parent Family Weekend on Oct. 11 12.

Welcome to Montana State University's Parent and Family Weekend is Oct. 11-12.

BOZEMAN - Parents and family members of Montana State University students are invited to take part in MSU sponsored events Oct. 11-12.

Parent and Family Weekend entails a range of events including visiting the Museum of the Rockies, photos with the Bobcat "Spirit" statue, a welcome reception in Inspiration Hall, swing dancing at the Gallatin County fairgrounds, breakfast at Rendezvous Dining Pavilion and the Parent and Family Tailgate before the Bobcat football takes on the Idaho Vandals. Alongside MSU-sponsored events will be events put on by local businesses throughout the weekend.

"We cannot wait to welcome our parents and family members back to campus for the weekend," said Matt Caires, dean of students. "They are essential partners with us for their student's success at MSU."

Registration for Parent and Family Weekend is $250 for a family pass and $130 for a single pass. Registering will provide one campus parking pass, family photos taken with the "Spirit" statue, free family admission to the Museum of the Rockies, and entry for the Parent and Family Reception, the Montana State University faculty lecture series and the Parent and Family Tailgate party prior to the football game.

Both faculty led lectures will be held on Friday, Oct. 11, in the Strand Union Building's Ballroom A, starting with professor Michelle Flenniken presenting about the importance of honeybees at 2 p.m., with Bruce Pitman's lecture "Advice for Parents on How Best to Navigate the College Years" to follow at 3 p.m.
