Get Moving with Schools in Baldwin County: International Walk and Roll to School Day

Sep 13, 2024, 16:06 PM

On October 2, 2024, schools in Baldwin County will join a global movement for International Walk and Roll to School Day. This day is about more than just getting to school-it's an opportunity to explore a healthier, more connected community.

Leading this effort is the Baldwin County Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Coalition, which includes the Baldwin County Trailblazers, the Eastern Shore Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Baldwin County Commission, the Legislative Delegation, education foundations, and all three public school systems. The coalition promotes safe, active transportation and works to enhance community well-being.

Whether you're a parent, a teacher, or just curious about the idea, participating is a simple way to support better health, reduce traffic, lessen environmental impact, and enjoy your neighborhood. It's a practical, low-key way to see how walking or rolling can make a positive difference.

Curious to see what it's all about? Check with your local school for details and find out how you can get involved. It's a small step that could lead to big benefits for our communities.
