ESU President Appointed to Governor’s Board of Higher Education

Today, Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro announced his appointments to the newly established State Board of Higher Education (www.pa.gov/en/governor/newsroom/2024-press-releases), and East Stroudsburg University is pleased to share that President Kenneth Long has been appointed to this distinguished board.

The State Board of Higher Education will unite leaders from higher education, the business community, labor, students, legislators, and the Shapiro Administration to develop a strategic plan for higher education in Pennsylvania. The Board's mission includes enhancing coordination among institutions, improving accessibility and affordability for students, and ensuring that our higher education system equips students with the skills and credentials needed to address workforce shortages and drive economic growth for future generations.

Additionally, the Board will establish an Outcomes-Based Funding Council to recommend strategies for funding state-related universities and supporting institutions facing fiscal challenges.
