Boise Police are investigating a pedestrian found deceased in the roadway in the area of W. Overland Rd. and S. Atlantic St. and are seeking additional information. On November 1, 2024, just before 9:40 pm, Boise Police officers responded to a call for service from a driver in the area who reported they had run over what they believed to be an already deceased person in the roadway. Arriving officers located an adult male victim with severe fatal injuries. Upon further investigation, officers learned that several drivers saw what they believed to be an object in the roadway and were able to swerve out of the way, but some drivers were not able to, and evidence indicates the victim had been run over several times. Officers quickly secured the scene and shut down Overland Rd. between Latah St. and Owyhee St. for several hours. Detectives with BPD's Criminal Investigation Division and the Crash Reconstruction Team responded to investigate the incident. Investigators interviewed several drivers and witnesses on scene. BPD Victim Witness Coordinators and our partners at the Trauma Intervention Program of Treasure Valley (TIP) were also called to the scene to assist. The identity of the victim is unknown at this time. Once identified, the Ada County Coroner will release the victim's identity pending notification of next of kin.
This investigation is active and ongoing. Detectives are asking any witnesses who haven't already spoken with police to contact Ada County Dispatch at 208-377-6790.
