CDCR Seeking Incarcerated Person Who Walked Away from a San Diego Reentry Program

SAN DIEGO - California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) officials are seeking a person who walked away from a Male Community Reentry Program (MCRP) in San Diego on Sept. 29, 2024.

Michael A. Jacobson, 42, was reported missing at approximately 9 p.m. after he was late to return from an approved pass. Staff immediately initiated an emergency count that confirmed Jacobson was missing and then launched a search. CDCR's Office of Correctional Safety and local law enforcement agencies have been notified and are assisting.

Jacobson is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs approximately 175 pounds. He has hazel eyes and is bald. He was last seen wearing dark jeans, a gray shirt with white lettering, a black baseball cap and black shoes with white trim and carrying a large black backpack.

He was most recently received from San Diego County on April 13, 2022, sentenced to nine years for first-degree burglary as a second striker with an enhancement for a prior felony conviction of a serious offense. Jacobson has been housed at the MCRP in San Diego since Dec. 26, 2023.

Anyone who sees Jacobson or has knowledge of his whereabouts should immediately contact law enforcement, call 911, or contact Special Agent Daniel Contreras at (619) 681-4261.

The MCRP allows eligible people committed to state prison to serve the end of their sentences in the reentry center and provides them the programs and tools necessary to transition from custody to the community. It is a voluntary program for male offenders who have two years or less left to serve. The program links them to a range of community-based rehabilitative services that assist with substance use disorders, mental health care, medical care, employment, education, housing, family reunification and social support.

Since 1977, 99 percent of the incarcerated people who have escaped or walked away from an adult institution, camp, in-state contract bed or Community Rehabilitative Program Placement have been apprehended.
