Grassley, Johnson Request State Department Investigate John Kerry's Use of Pseudonym Email, Compliance with Federal Records Laws

WASHINGTON - Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) are making public former Secretary of State John Kerry's pseudonym email and calling on the State Department to review Kerry's compliance with federal records laws while at the agency's helm.

"Based on legally protected whistleblower disclosures to our offices, it's our understanding that then-Secretary of State John Kerry used the email address '[email protected],'" the senators wrote in a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken. "We want to know whether then-Secretary Kerry properly complied with all federal records laws and regulations with respect to his official email communications and whether responses to relevant Freedom of Information Act requests have properly included that email address in productions to requestors."

This newly obtained information comes just weeks after the senators exposed then-Secretary Kerry's pattern of obstruction against FBI efforts to arrest dangerous Iranian individuals amid Iran Nuclear Deal negotiations. Grassley and Johnson conducted extensive oversight of former Secretary Hillary Clinton's mishandling of highly-classified information while at the State Department. The senators for more than two years have pressed for transparency regarding then-Vice President Joe Biden's use of non-government and pseudonym emails for official government business.
