Expungement and Resource Clinic Presented by Mayor's N.A.M. Initiative and Maryland Dept. of Labor

Annapolis, MD (August 22, 2024) - The City of Annapolis Naptown AntiDope Movemeant (N.A.M.) and the Maryland Department of Labor, in partnership with Prince George County Community Legal Services, will host a free expungement and resource clinic at the Michael E. Busch Anne Arundel County Public Library, from 1 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, September 4, 2024.

EXPUNGEMENT CLINIC: Having a record (criminal/delinquencies/driving) can present challenges to re-entry, including barriers to housing, professional licensing, financial aid, admission to the military, education and employment. Successful expungement (or record sealing) can significantly reduce recidivism rates and remove barriers to opportunity.

  • At this event, Community Legal Services, who have a proven track record of success, will help individuals complete expungement petitions. There is no cost and no income requirement. At this event, attendees meet one-on-one with a licensed attorney.

  • The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) will have representatives to answer questions and assist individuals with filing petitions for driving record expungement.

RESOURCE CLINIC: Attendees can visit a number of booths to learn about resources for substance use disorder, mental health, job training and career development, crisis response and utility and rental assistance (and more!).

JOB FAIR: Employers will be on hand with job opportunities, job training programs and career development workshops.

OVERDOSE WORKSHOP: an overdose awareness workshop from N.A.M. will begin at 1 p.m. The workshop will help to raise awareness about overdoses within the City of Annapolis.

Parking is available at the site for all attendees, or participants can use Annapolis Transit's new "Go Time" on-demand service to get to the event, simply download the "Transigo" app and follow the steps.
