Falcons see much success, post pandemic, in a short amount of time and with many new players!
CHICAGO - (November 5, 2024) - The Harry S Truman Falcons have now won four back-to-back games qualifying them for Championship play, Division 4. Playing like the talented people they are, the men's soccer team season has competed in nine games with a total of four wins and four (9-4-4) losses, one neutral, after last year's seasons of 7-3-3.
"Every year, we strive to get better, and this season has been a testament to that commitment. We've played a more competitive schedule to challenge ourselves, knowing that the toughest games will prepare us for the biggest moments. We may have stumbled in our season opener, but we've grown stronger, more focused, and more determined. Now, it's time to show the progress we've made and embrace the opportunity to compete at the highest level. Our journey isn't just about wins, it's about how we rise when faced with adversity," said, Truman Soccer Coach Maciej Orlowski.
Everyone is invited to cheer them onto a win at noon on Thursday, November 7 during the District Tournament Championship match against Lewis and Clark Community College. The game will be played at Tim Rooney stadium, 5800 Godfrey Road in Godfrey, Illinois.
This is a rematch of the Falcon's season opener, they lost 8-1 to the Trailblazers in August. Lewis and Clark Community College is ranked 15th in the nation in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I with a 13-4 record. Offensively, the Truman Falcons are led by sophomore Bekir Lekic. He ranks 16th in goals among all NJCAA Division I men's soccer with 12 players. He also has eight assists (20th) and 32 points (11th). Sophomore Goalkeeper Elio Di Gennaro is ranked 10th nationally with a .827 save percentage. Lekic was selected as the Region 4, Division, Men's Soccer Player of the Year and Head Coach Maciej Orlowski was named Region 4, Division I Men's Soccer Coach of the Year for a second straight season.
