Chris Dickey selected for Mirari Brass Quintet

After a competitive search and audition process, Chris Dickey, associate tuba professor at Washington State University, has been appointed to the Mirari Brass Quintet.

Supported by the Boston-based artist management company Ariel Artists, the Mirari Brass Quintet regularly tours around the country and abroad to perform recitals of new music and standard repertoire for quintet. The group is dedicated to commissioning and supporting new voices in composition while engaging with audiences about the value of music making and supporting the arts in today's world.

Originally founded in 2009, the Mirari Brass Quintet has performed in 35 states and visited many of the country's top music schools. The group has added nearly two dozen new works to the brass quintet repertoire alongside compositions and arrangements completed by ensemble members. In January 2025, the quintet will record their third studio album featuring several new compositions and winners of the quintet's annual Call for Scores competition.

"I am honored to have been selected as the new tubist for the Mirari Brass Quintet," Dickey said. "Simply put, Mirari is a world-class ensemble. As a performer, I have always felt a gravitational pull to chamber music. The opportunity to play with Mirari enables me to connect with audiences around the United States while continuing to advocate for music and the arts in today's world."
