As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:
Hit Shooting - 19th Street and Harbor Avenue: On Dec. 16, 2024 at approximately 6:13 p.m., officers responded to the area of 19th Street and Harbor Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in his vehicle when he observed the suspect(s) stop and exit their vehicle behind him. The victim exited his vehicle and was shot by the suspect(s). The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
