Welcome to the LBPD Blotter!

As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.

Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:

  • Hit Shooting - 19th Street and Harbor Avenue: On Dec. 16, 2024 at approximately 6:13 p.m., officers responded to the area of 19th Street and Harbor Avenue regarding a hit shooting. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds to the upper and lower body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was in his vehicle when he observed the suspect(s) stop and exit their vehicle behind him. The victim exited his vehicle and was shot by the suspect(s). The suspect(s) fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. Suspect information and motive for the shooting are under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.

  • Negligent Discharge - 1100 block of Hellman Street: On Dec. 16, 2024 at approximately 9:34 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Hellman Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence, indicating a shooting had occurred. The preliminary investigation indicates that a male adult suspect fired a gun into the air and fled the scene. Officers located the suspect nearby and arrested him. A firearm was recovered. No injuries were reported. The suspect was transported to Long Beach City Jail for booking. The suspect was identified as Anthony Marcellous Foster, a 31-year-old resident of Gardena, who was booked for negligent discharge of a firearm and brandishing a firearm. Bail is set at $35,000. The investigation is ongoing.

  • No-Hit Shooting - 1200 block of East 4th Street: On Dec. 16, 2024 at approximately 10:24 p.m., officers were working uniformed patrol when they heard gunshots and located a crime scene in the 1200 block of East 4th Street. During their investigation officers located evidence that a shooting occurred. The suspect fled the scene prior to officers' arrival. No injuries were reported. The motive for the shooting is under investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
