Bukit Asam (PTBA) Receives 3 ICA Awards 2023 for Sustainable CSR

PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) received three prestigious awards at the Indonesia CSR Awards (ICA) 2023: Platinum for the Solar Power Plant-based agricultural irrigation program, Gold for Eco Agrotomation, and Silver for Bukit Asam Industrial Center (SIBA) Bokashi.

This award is appreciation given for companies that carry out Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs in a sustainable manner and support the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

According to VP Sustainability PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) Hartono, this award is an acknowledgment of PTBA's commitment and dedication in carrying out CSR programs as an integral part of the company's activities.

"This award acknowledges our efforts in building and implementing CSR programs. This appreciation inspires us to continue contributing to society and the environment," said Hartono.

PTBA has Solar Power Plant construction program in place to turn on agricultural irrigation pumps to improve the welfare of the community around the company's operational area. With solar irrigation, farmers can harvest up to three times a year.

So far, PTBA has installed six solar irrigation systems with a total capacity of 192 kWp, which are dispersed over South Sumatra, Lampung, and West Sumatra. Irrigated land covers around 493 hectares (ha), with approximately 845 farmer families benefiting.

While the Eco Agrotomation Program encourages ecologically friendly, automation-based plant cultivation to support reforestation and reclamation programs. With this program, the community's economy improves and environmental sustainability is maintained.

Through SIBA Bokashi, PTBA fosters communities to form business groups that produce bokashi fertilizer that is needed for reclamation and revegetation.

"CSR and SDGs programs are strategic activities that play an important role in ensuring the company's sustainability. Through these programs, we strive to have a significant positive impact on society, the environment and other stakeholders," stated Hartono.
