Minister for Defence Meets Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission General Zhang Youxia in Beijing

Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen met Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission General Zhang Youxia at the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Bayi Building in Beijing, China this afternoon. Dr Ng is in Beijing from 11 to 13 September 2024 to attend the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum.

Dr Ng and General Zhang reaffirmed the longstanding, warm and friendly bilateral defence relations between Singapore and China. They also discussed ways to deepen leadership interactions, practical cooperation and people to people exchanges. In addition, they exchanged views on global and regional security developments, and the need to promote dialogue to maintain peace and security in the region.

Earlier this morning, Dr Ng visited the PLA National Defense University where he interacted with senior PLA and provincial officials and exchanged views on geopolitical developments, US-China relations, and Singapore's defence policy.
