New SE Legacy Speaker Series to launch on Homecoming Week

As Southeastern Oklahoma State University celebrates its annual Homecoming Week on September 30-October 5, its class of Distinguished Alumni will kick off the new Legacy Speaker Series throughout the week.

The Legacy Speaker Series will feature alumni and friends of the University as they return to campus to present to Southeastern students. The initial slate of speakers in the series will be Distinguished Alumni and their representatives.

Blessed Stanley Rother will be honored with a presentation by his cousin Father Don Wolf, rector at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine in Oklahoma City. Father Wolf's presentation on "The Shepherd Who Didn't Run" will be held in the Hallie McKinney Ballroom at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 4, immediately following the unveiling ceremony of "The Two Brothers" sculpture in Legacy Plaza. This event is open to the public.

Three other Distinguished Alumni will present to specific student groups and classes during the Homecoming week as part of the Legacy Speaker Series.

  • Todd Hughes will have an online presentation and Q&A session with graduate students on the evening of Tuesday, October 1
  • Gary Sherrer will present to Dr. Doug Wood's biology class and hold a Q&A with biology students at 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 3
  • Roland Fanning will speak to gathered student-athletes in Bloomer Sullivan Arena at 7 p.m. on Thursday, October 3

Information on future Legacy Speaker Series events will be released as they are confirmed by instructors and campus leadership. Those interested in speaking to classes should email [email protected] for more information and opportunities to connect with Southeastern students.
