Manchin Announces $42.9 Million For 10 Healthcare, Mental Health Community Projects Across West Virginia

Washington, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $42,994,000 from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) for 10 community projects across West Virginia. The funding will bolster general healthcare and mental health services across West Virginia. These federal awards are Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) projects Senator Manchin secured on behalf of West Virginia through the Fiscal Year 2024 funding bill.

"This more than $42 million investment will be used to strengthen and expand healthcare and mental health services across the Mountain State," said Senator Manchin. "Every West Virginian deserves access to quality, affordable health services and I look forward to seeing the positive impacts of these projects for decades to come. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue to advocate for resources to support the health and well-being of our communities across the Mountain State."

• $15,000,000 - Charleston Area Medical Center Inc, Charleston
  • This funding will support creating a state-of-the-art neurosciences institute.
• $7,415,000 - Applied Research Foundation of West Virginia, Bluefield
  • This funding will support the construction of a state-of-the-art healthcare training facility.
• $6,428,000 - West Virginia University Hospitals, Morgantown
  • This funding will support constructing additional inpatient shelled areas.
• $6,000,000 - Pocahontas Memorial Hospital, Buckeye
  • This funding will support an expansion of the hospital.
• $3,059,000 - Fairmont State University, Fairmont
  • This funding will support renovating the Nursing Simulation Center and Skills Lab.
• $3,042,000 - Florence Crittenton Programs Inc, Wheeling
  • This funding will support expanding Crittenton's Center for Young Women and Children services for young girls, mothers, and babies.
• $700,000 - County of Grant, Petersburg
  • This funding will support constructing an EMS building.
• $500,000 - Morgantown Community Resources Inc, Morgantown
  • This funding will support expanding the Hazel's House of Hope Day Services Center.
• $500,000 - Hospital Development, Spencer
  • This funding will support constructing an ambulance center.
• $350,000 - Prestera Center For Mental Health Services, Huntington
  • This funding will be used to replace the facility's roof.
