WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Senator Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), ranking member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, released a statement after a federal court invalidated the Biden-Harris overtime rule. This regulation would have increased the overtime pay threshold by 65 percent, eliminating jobs and raising prices on American families.
"With inflation at 40-year highs and millions dropping out of the workforce, the Biden-Harris overtime rule was an attempt to pour gasoline on the fire. Businesses shouldn't be forced to choose between laying off their workers and raising prices on families," said Dr. Cassidy. "This ruling is a win for American families struggling to make ends meet under the Biden-Harris economy."
In June, Cassidy and 30 Republican senators introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) resolution of disapproval to repeal the Department of Labor's final overtime rule.
