Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision closes Alaska Highway south of Whitehorse

August 2, 2024 at 4:58 pm Whitehorse Detachment officers and Emergency Medical Services responded to a serious two-vehicle collision on the Alaska Highway, at McClintock Road.

A southbound vehicle struck another vehicle entering the highway. The driver of the vehicle that was hit, was killed in this collision and the passenger suffered injuries and was transported to hospital. Yukon Coroner's Office attended the scene.

Police are actively investigating the collision and are engaging a Traffic Collision Analyst from Prince George, British Columbia for assistance.

Both lanes of the highway are closed, there is a detour at Tagish Road, South Klondike Highway. Police are advising road travelers to be cautious and to please be patient.
