Annual power generation at Cambodia's Kamchay Hydropower Station exceeds 200 million kWh

As of 8:00 am on Aug 13, the Kamchay Hydropower Station in Cambodia, owned by POWERCHINA, had generated over 200 million kilowatt-hours of electricity this year. The station has now been operating safely and stably for 4,593 consecutive days.

This year, Kamchay Hydropower Company has implemented various measures to strengthen management and enhance efficiency. In July, the Kamchay region experienced its first significant concentrated rainfall of the year. The station fully utilized the inflow from this rainfall, allowing for increased and more efficient power generation. The monthly power output in July exceeded 85 million kWh, accounting for 129.5 percent of the monthly plan.

As a result, the company successfully fulfilled its power supply and grid stability obligations during Cambodia's severe dry season power shortages in the first half of the year.

In addition to power production, the company actively fulfills its social responsibilities. During the annual dry season, when water is scarce, the station provides high-quality and sufficient water supplies to downstream cities and residents. During the rainy season, the station, with its large reservoir capacity and excellent flood retention capabilities, ensures the safety of downstream cities and residents.

In July of this year, faced with heavy floods caused by continuous heavy rainfall in the upper Kamchay River basin, the station effectively played its role in flood control, successfully retaining the floodwaters and safeguarding the safety of downstream communities, earning widespread acclaim from locals.
