Defendant Sentenced for Assault w/Deadly Weapon, Battery, Child Abuse Charges

The Honorable Shelleyanne Chang sentenced Natividad Manzano Bautista to 8 years in prison. On October 4, 2024, a jury convicted Bautista of felony charges battery with serious bodily injury, battery, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and child abuse. The jury also found true a great bodily injury allegation and aggravating factors.

Natividad Manzano Bautista got involved in a family altercation over a truck. Bautista punched a female family victim, knocking her to the ground. He then got on top of her and struck her with a sharp object, causing lacerations to both arms. When the victim's 16-year-old daughter tried to stop the attack, Bautista turned on her and stabbed her in the arm. Bautista then turned back to the victim's mother and stabbed her in the neck, causing a deep cut. When law enforcement arrived on scene, Bautista refused to obey commands to exit the home. When he finally emerged 20 minutes later, he was taken into custody.
