Kassi Ashton Releases New Track “The Straw” – Featured on Her Debut Album MADE FROM THE DIRT, Out Sept. 20

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (August 9, 2024) - Rising country star Kassi Ashton unveils chilling new ballad, "The Straw," out now via MCA Nashville. The track comes ahead of her highly anticipated debut album, Made From The Dirt, out September 20.

With powerful vocals and gentle guitar, Kassi tells the story of a failed relationship. The song culminates in the devastating chorus, with Kassi grieving, "My back aches, my bones break, I was the only one willing to change / Who cares what made it heavy anyway / The straw."

"This is the oldest song on the album," shares Kassi. "I was at a writing camp, and I had just broken up with my boyfriend and I hadn't seen Lori (McKenna) in a while, so I was telling her about the breakup: 'Well, the straw that broke my back was…' And she goes, 'Oh, I've always wanted to write that…' I just looked at her and started crying. I wrote it right there with Lori and Luke Laird on a baby grand."

"The Straw" is featured on Kassi's long-awaited debut album, Made From The Dirt, coming Sept. 20. Kassi gave fans a taste of the album with recent releases "Son Of A Gun," "I Don't Wanna Dance," and Top 40 Country Radio hits "Called Crazy" and "Drive You Out Of My Mind." The tracks have received praise from Music Row, Rolling Stone, Billboard, and more.

Along with new releases, a headlining run of shows, and a support leg with Jamey Johnson, Kassi also received an ACM nomination for New Female Artist of the Year. With her debut album a little over a month away, Kassi has no plans to slow down.
