The New York State Police have arrested Joshua Seidel, age 32, of Horseheads, NY, in connection with a fraud investigation involving the theft of $3,700 from First Heritage Federal Credit Union (FHFCU). The arrest follows an extensive investigation uncovering fraudulent activities perpetrated through the use of counterfeit checks. The investigation revealed SEIDEL completed mobile deposits of numerous fraudulent checks through First Heritage prior to transferring out the money, resulting in the theft of more than $3000.

On December 6, 2024, Seidel was arrested and charged with Grand Larceny 3rd (D Felony), Identity Theft 1st (D Felony), and Criminal Possession of a Forged Instrument 2nd (D Felony).

Following his arrest, Seidel was processed and arraigned at the Village of Horseheads Court, where he was released on his own recognizance. He is scheduled to appear in Elmira Town Court on December 18, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.

This is an ongoing investigation.
