City Partners with Metro and 3CDC to Promote Safety Over July 4th Holiday

All Metro service will operate on a Saturday service schedule on Thursday, July 4th in observance of Independence Day. Metro's administrative offices will be closed.

CINCINNATI, OH -
Today, City Manager Sheryl Long is sharing critical partnerships to ensure there are spaces and resources for teens to safely enjoy the July 4th holiday.

First, though July 4th is a City holiday, the Cincinnati Recreation Commission will staff three City pools from 1-6 p.m. with free admission for youth ages 12-18. Those locations are:

  • Dempsey Pool - 933 Hawthorne Ave.
  • McKie Pool - 1655 Chase Ave.
  • Oakley Pool - 3900 Paxton Ave.
Additionally, the City is excited to partner with Metro, who is providing free, single-ride bus passes for City and 3CDC staff to hand out at Smale Riverfront Park and Ziegler Park when those locations close, starting at 10 p.m. on July 4th. This resource along with staff will encourage everyone out enjoying the holiday to leave the area and safely return home.

"We continue to be creative in our problem-solving efforts to provide free, safe programming for our communities and utilize wonderful partnerships to ensure everyone gets home this holiday weekend. I'm grateful to Metro and 3CDC for always being willing to collaborate and share resources. We know this weekend will be full of celebration and family-fun and are making every effort to keep community members safe as they enjoy this time together," said City Manager Sheryl Long.

"Supporting initiatives like this aligns with Metro's mission of safely connecting people to the places that matter most to them," said Brandy Jones, Metro's Chief Communications and Marketing Officer. "We hope these passes encourage more
families to participate in the celebrations, connect with their community, and create lasting memories."

"Downtown is going to be filled with family-friendly activities on July 4th, and our team is looking forward to a busy day full of programming across the urban core," Christy Samad, Executive Vice President, Civic & Commercial Space Activation for 3CDC, said. "From Swimming at Ziegler Pool, to dancing the night away at Salsa on the Square, and of course our neighborhood fireworks show at Washington Park, there is something for everyone to enjoy. All of this positive activity will help create a safe and fun environment for those looking to celebrate the holiday in the center city."

3CDC will be hosting a Fourth of July Celebration at Washington Park starting at 6 p.m., culminating in a fireworks show. For a full list of programming across all 3CDC spaces, please click here.
