Interstate 80 Construction Update for Sierra Corridor

PLACER/NEVADA/SIERRA COUNTIES - Caltrans is reminding motorists of various lane and ramp closures in multiple locations along Interstate 80 (I-80) as several projects and emergency repairs continue in Placer, Nevada and Sierra counties.
Emergency repair work is starting to wrap up for the season, but construction continues on major projects and motorists still may experience delays up to a maximum of two hours and are encouraged to factor in additional travel times along the I-80 Sierra corridor. Here is the breakdown for next week:
Eastbound I-80
  • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Monte Vista and Drum Forebay, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, September 16 through 11 a.m. Friday, September 20. Work is also scheduled from 7 p.m. Friday, September 20 to 11 a.m. Saturday, September 21.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Whitmore and Nyack, lane closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, September 16 through Wednesday, September 18.
  • Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between Yuba Gap and the junction with State Route 20 (SR-20), lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, September 16 through Thursday, September 19. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, September 20.
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Crystal Lake, lane closures will be in place from 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. the following day Sunday, September 15 through Thursday, September 19. Work is scheduled to end at 9 a.m. Friday, September 20.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 3 between Cisco Grove and Rainbow, lane closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 18 and Thursday, September 19. Work is also scheduled 4 a.m. to noon Friday, September 20.
  • Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Troy and Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 6 a.m. Monday, September 16 through 11 a.m. Friday, September 20. Work is also scheduled from 7 p.m. Friday, September 20 to 5 a.m. Saturday, September 21.
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place from 3 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17. Work is also scheduled from 3 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, September 19.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 4 between Soda Springs and the Donner Summit Rest Area, lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning at 7 p.m. Sunday, September 15 through noon Friday, September 20.
  • Floriston Safety Improvement Project between Hinton Road and Floriston, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 17. Additional work is scheduled during the week behind k-rail and not anticipated to affect traffic.
Westbound I-80
  • Floriston Safety Improvement Project between Floriston and Hinton Road, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, September 17. Additional work is scheduled during the week behind k-rail and not anticipated to affect traffic.
  • Westbound I-80 restriping project between the CHP Truck Scales and State Route 267, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday, September 16 through Thursday, September 19.
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Soda Springs, lane closures will be in place from 3 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, September 16 through Thursday, September 19. Work is also scheduled from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday, September 20.
  • Soda Springs Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Soda Springs and Troy, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 17 through Thursday, September 19.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 3 between Troy and Big Bend, lane closures will be in place from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 17 through Thursday, September 19.
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Crystal Lake, lane closures will be in place from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following day Sunday, September 15 through Thursday, September 19. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Friday, September 20.
  • Yuba Pass Separation Overhead Bridge Project between the junction with SR-20 and Yuba Gap, lane closures will be in place from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, September 16 through Thursday, September 19. Work is also scheduled from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. Friday, September 20.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Yuba Gap and Emigrant Gap, lane and ramp closures will be in place from 7 a.m. to 7 a.m. the following day Monday, September 16 through Friday, September 20. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Saturday, September 21.
  • Placer/Nevada bridge preservation project near Blue Canyon, lane closures will be in place from 6 p.m. Monday, September 16 to 7 a.m. Tuesday, September 17. Work is also scheduled from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following day Wednesday, September 18 and Thursday, September 19. Work is scheduled to end at 7 a.m. Friday, September 20.
  • Emergency Repairs Location 2 between Blue Canyon and Drum Forebay, lane closures will be in place around the clock beginning 5 a.m. Monday, September 16 through noon Friday, September 20.
  • Monte Vista Pavement Rehabilitation Project between Drum Forebay and Crystal Springs, lane and ramp closures will be in place around the clock from 6 a.m. Monday, September 16 through 7 p.m. Saturday, September 21.

The extended lane closures will help to minimize the duration of the work and improve workers' safety. For more information on each project visit Caltrans District 3 Current Projects. The schedule is subject to change or be delayed due to weather, availability of materials or other unexpected events.

Caltrans District 3 is responsible for maintaining and operating 4,385 lane miles in 11 Sacramento Valley and Northern Sierra counties. Caltrans reminds motorists to "Be Work Zone Alert" and slow in construction zones for the safety of travelers and crews performing these improvements.
