Man charged after domestic abuse assault

A man has been charged following a report of domestic assault in Kirkby in June.

Merseyside Police received a report a man was being kicked in the front garden of a house. Officers attended and a man was arrested on nearby.

The victim, a man in his 50s, sustained serious facial injuries and received treatment in hospital. He has since been discharged.

A man has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and was reamended into custody to appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday 1 July.

Detective Inspector Yoseph Al-Ramadhan said: "Domestic abuse can happen to anyone and we have specially trained officers who will listen to victims and support you with sensitivity and compassion.

"Neighbours and family members can help by looking out for family members, friends or neighbours that may be suffering and letting us know of any concerns.

"By speaking to us, you could be helping someone who is far too afraid to help themselves. Everything you tell us is taken extremely seriously and will be investigated thoroughly and sensitively."
