President Meloni’s telephone conversation with Prime Minister Starmer

The President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, had a telephone conversation today with Keir Starmer to congratulate him on his new role as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Highlighting the significance of the strategic partnership between Italy and the United Kingdom and the exceptional historical relationship between the two nations, President Meloni stressed the importance of continuing the meaningful action to revitalise bilateral cooperation initiated with the previous government, and of maintaining close coordination on all the most important issues on the international agenda as well as on global challenges.

The two leaders agreed to meet at the NATO Summit in Washington next week.
