WASHINGTON-Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-08) issued the following statement after the U.S. Department of Energy announced it has finalized its $544 million loan to SK Siltron to expand manufacturing of high-quality silicon carbide wafers for electric vehicles in Bay County:
"Thanks to new laws passed by Democrats in Congress, we are bringing back manufacturing jobs to mid-Michigan. This major economic investment will help to create hundreds manufacturing jobs in Bay County-good-paying jobs that can support a family. By strengthening our supply chains and making sure we make things in America and not China, we can grow our economy and make sure workers have good wages. I was proud to support new laws to help ensure that Michigan workers are leading the way in manufacturing jobs of the future."
In February 2024, Congressman Kildee announced the U.S. Department of Energy's conditional commitment that preceded this announcement.
