City of Temecula Adopts FY25 Annual Operating Budget and the Largest Five Year FY25 29

The City of Temecula City Council recently approved Temecula's FY25 $99.2M Annual General Fund Operating Budget (AOB) and five-year FY25-29 $927.2M Capital Improvement Program Budget (CIP); both are effective July 1, 2024.

Temecula Mayor James Stewart states, "54% of the City's $99.2M Annual Operating Budget expenditures will be dedicated to public safety, which is the highest priority for Temecula." Stewart adds, "Police protection is increasing by 4.6% and includes 117 sworn Deputies plus 18 Community Service Officers, surpassing the City's longstanding target staffing ratio outlined in the City's General Plan and Quality of Life Master Plan." The FY25 Annual Operating Budget also includes staffing levels of four firefighters per fire engine with a total of 78 fire personnel, including the addition of six positions. Mayor Stewart adds, "The City's commitment to fire protection served as a pivotal factor in the recently upgraded Insurance Services Office (ISO) 2 rating, which places Temecula in the top 7% of the Nation for structure fire suppression capabilities."

The Capital Improvement Program Budget includes 110 separate projects, totaling $927.2M in project costs. Temecula City Manager Aaron Adams states, "This is the largest capital improvement program budget in the City's history, and approximately 64% of the funding is sourced from external opportunities such as federal and state grants, and regional funding."
