What is your favorite aspect of teaching?

More than anything else, it's the students. Being granted the opportunity to make a positive impact on students through relationships and the development of lessons that can impact their lives is a motivation factor for me to continue to teach.

What career paths do students from the graduate courses you teach typically pursue?

Job opportunities with a sports administration degree include managing teams, organizing sporting events, marketing for teams or brands, or overseeing community recreational programs. The degree combines business, law, and marketing skills with a passion for sports, making it versatile enough for many industries.

What are the ways a graduate degree can enhance a person's career?

Pursuing graduate studies allows individuals to deepen their knowledge and become experts in a particular field. On a personal level graduate studies can provide personal growth and fulfillment.

What do you find most challenging and most rewarding about being a professor?

For me the most rewarding aspects are being able to guide students to engage with valuable materials and gaining deeper insights by exploring them alongside my classes. As a professor witnessing students' growth, intellectual development, and success is incredibly gratifying.

What advice would you give to students aspiring to seek a graduate degree?

My advice for students aspiring to seek a graduate degree (especially an online degree) is to develop a time management plan. By planning, you will avoid schedule conflicts and the 'rush' to complete assignments on time. Students should surround themselves with support groups such as peer groups, family and friends. These groups can be a vital step in achieving short- and long-term goals.

Who inspires you and why?

Dr. Pat Gordon, Professor Emeritus from Arkansas Tech University, was a huge inspiration. She always went above and beyond for her students and motivated them to be their best. She expected her students to be leaders in their field as she was. I aspire to have that same dedication to my work and want to help students reach their potential as she did for me.
