As part of our ongoing commitment to external communications and providing valuable information to our community, the Department posts preliminary information about incidents that occurred the previous evening, including shootings and stabbings, as well as any other LBPD updates to the Department's homepage and on the "News" tab of the Department's website. This page will be updated as new incidents occur.
Here's a recap of incidents occurring last night:
- Stabbing - 3900 block of Ocean Boulevard: On Dec. 14, 2024 at approximately 6:40 p.m., officers responded to the 3900 block of Ocean Boulevard regarding a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted a male adult victim with non-life-threatening stab wounds to the upper body. Long Beach Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was standing outside when a male adult suspect approached and stabbed him. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. The investigation is ongoing.
- No-hit shooting - 1500 block of East 5th Street: On Dec. 14, 2024 at approximately 8:24 p.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of East 5th Street regarding a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located evidence indicating a shooting had occurred. Suspect information and the motive for the shooting are under investigation. No injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Great work officers! Last night, officers safely took two guns off the streets -
- On Dec. 14, 2024 at approximately 7:36 p.m., officers responded to a person with a gun call. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle. Officers later located the vehicle and conducted a stop. During the investigation, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect, who was determined to be a prohibited possessor, was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
- On Dec. 15, 2024 at approximately 3:24 a.m., officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of 10th Street and Martin Luther King Jr Avenue. During the investigation, officers recovered a firearm. The suspect, who was determined to be a prohibited possessor, was arrested. The investigation is ongoing.
