MIDDLETOWN, Pa. - The following is a collection of events happening around Penn State Harrisburg next week.

Events

Annual Veterans Day Ceremony - 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m., Nov. 11, Vartan Plaza and Morrison Gallery in the Madlyn L. Hanes Library. Join the Office of Veterans Affairs at the flagpole to honor military veterans past, present and future for their service. Lunch will be served following the ceremony in the Morrison Gallery.

Military and Veteran Open House - 4:30-7 p.m., Nov. 13. CUB 210 Events Room. Penn State Harrisburg's Veterans Affairs and Admissions offices are hosting a military and veteran open house. Attendees can meet with an admissions counselor, campus veteran affairs, financial aid and other key support offices. RSVP for the Military and Veteran Open House here.

Penn State Harrisburg Second Degree Nursing Information Session - 12-1:15 p.m., Nov. 14, virtual. Learn more about the 16-month Second Degree Nursing Program at Penn State Harrisburg. Lectures

A conversation with Richard Ziegler - The Power of Compounding: How to Become a Millionaire - 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., Nov. 13, EAB 104. From starting his construction company at 22 to mastering finance and philanthropy, Richard Ziegler has achieved extraordinary success. With 47 years leading R.E. Ziegler Remodeling and Construction and a wealth of experience in investment, he'll share his incredible journey, including lessons in resilience, investment and giving back.

Performances

Martha Redbone Roots Project - 7:30-9:30 p.m., Nov. 15, Kulkarni Theatre. The Kulkarni Cultural Series presents Martha Redbone Roots Project, a "tasty gumbo of roots music" from Appalachia's coal country and her mother's multiracial Indigenous heritage, from pre-gentrified Brooklyn and the Black Migration. In sound and story, folk, blues and gospel, Martha Redbone and her ensemble share her life experience as an Afro-Indigenous woman and mother. In-person exhibits (ongoing)

"Always Aim High! An Exhibition Celebrating Shirley Chisholm" - Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library, third floor. An exhibition celebrating Shirley Chisholm, featuring rare materials from the Alice Marshall Women's History Collection. A native of Brooklyn, New York, Chisholm was the first Black woman to be elected to the U.S. Congress in 1968 and the first Black woman to run for U.S. president in 1972. The exhibition was curated by Payton Becker, a doctoral student in American studies and graduate archives assistant at Hanes Library.

"Faces: Portraits of Students at Penn State Harrisburg" - Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library. Presented by the School of Humanities in collaboration with the Madlyn L. Hanes Library.

"Driving, Designing, and Defying: Women Paving the Way in Automotive History" - Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library.

"Forty-Five Years After the Meltdown: Remembering the Accident at TMI in 2024" - Through Dec. 20, Hanes Library. Please note: Viewing of the exhibition is by appointment only on weekdays (Monday-Wednesday). As availability of the archives is limited, visitors are encouraged to schedule a visit at least two weeks in advance of the requested date/time.
