Joseph F. Drennan & Sons: Celebrating 25 Years of Membership

Joseph F. Drennan & Sons, also known as Drennan Movers, is a Staten Island-based moving company that prides itself on honesty, integrity, and reputation. Founded over eighty years ago by Joseph F. Drennan as Staten Island Movers, Drennan Movers has evolved to become one of Staten Island's oldest and most respected moving companies.

Drennan, a native Staten Islander, quickly made a name for himself within the New York metropolitan area, building his stellar reputation on quick service, quality assurance, and professionalism. Staten Island Movers handled all types of moving, from residential to commercial to offices to storage. In addition to treating each move with the utmost care, Drennan also made it a point to get to know each of his clients on a personal level, developing relationships that spanned generations of business. Drennan eventually rebranded from Staten Island Movers to Drennan Movers, and his sons took over the business, seamlessly continuing what their father had started.

In 1994, Christopher Galletta and Bill Hetherington acquired Drennan Movers. Both Galletta and Hetherington started in the moving and storage business in 1978 with their father-in-law, Nicholas Albano Sr., owner of Nick's Moving and Storage. Galletta and Hetherington bought into Nick's Moving and Storage alongside Nicholas Albano Jr., and eventually Nick's Moving and Storage merged with Drennan Movers.

Albano Jr., Galletta, and Hetherington worked diligently to uphold the reputations that both Joseph Drennan and Nicholas Albano Sr. developed, combining two renowned family businesses and maintaining the generosity and spirit of the companies. "We feel that it is our obligation to honor Drennan, Albano Sr., and our clients by keeping the standards that they laid down before us," emphasizes Hetherington.

For years, the three worked together to build upon that foundation, and their efforts show through their clients, who have stayed loyal throughout the transitions. When Albano Jr. and Galletta were ready to retire, Hetherington became the sole owner of Drennan Movers, and he fully dedicated himself to the business.

Hetherington leads a small team of highly qualified and thoroughly trained individuals, ranging from movers to office managers. Drennan Movers is committed to its clients on a personal level, ensuring not only that the move runs smoothly but also that the customer is entirely satisfied with the quality of work received.

This year, Drennan Movers is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the Staten Island Chamber of Commerce. Drennan Movers joined the Chamber in 1999, shortly after Galletta and Hetherington acquired the company.

"It was only natural to join the local Chamber of Commerce," says Hetherington. "We already had a great reputation, so why wouldn't we join the Chamber? We wanted to show that we were members of the community, not just a moving business; the Chamber was the perfect place to get involved."
