MBA Opens Doors Foundation Receives Over $240,000 from Lennar Mortgage, CMG Financial Fundraising Campaigns

WASHINGTON, D.C. (August 1, 2024) - The MBA Opens Doors Foundation (Opens Doors) today announced that it has received a total of $240,957 from Lennar Mortgage's 11th Annual Derby, and CMG Financials' 'Give Back Competition' fundraising campaign. The funds will allow Opens Doors to further deliver on its mission of providing mortgage and rental assistance to families with critically ill or injured children, allowing parents and guardians to be by a child's side during treatment without fear of losing their home.

The Lennar Mortgage Annual Derby, spearheaded by Laura Escobar, President of Lennar Mortgage and MBA's 2024 Chair-Elect, raised $100,457 for Opens Doors through nearly 1,200 contributions from company associates in approximately six weeks.

"Every spring, more than 500 Lennar Mortgage associates and advocates participate in our annual Derby," said Escobar. "For so many of us, the mission of Opens Doors is personal. As President of Lennar Mortgage, it gives me a huge sense of pride and gratitude in knowing that the people we work with care deeply about giving back and paying it forward to families in need."

In March, Chris George, President and CEO of CMG Financial, launched the CMG Give Back Competition, challenging leaders at CMG to raise funds for Opens Doors. The Competition raised $70,250, which was matched by George for a total of $140,500 raised.

"For CMG, supporting the mission of Opens Doors is as much a part of our business model as it is our personal value system. Our leaders know that families are what makes CMG run and when opportunities arise that allow us to help families in need, we participate at full strength."

The MBA Opens Doors Foundation, through its Home Grant Program, provides relief in a time of personal crisis. The Home Grant Program has become a critical part of a family's support structure, especially when a parent or guardian must take unpaid leave to be with a child. Grants of up to $2,000 are made monthly to families in need of mortgage or rental payment assistance. The Foundation has provided more than $24 million in mortgage and rental payment assistance through nearly 17,000 grants to families since its inception in 2011.
