ECLAC Will Update Economic Growth Projections for the Region’s Countries at the Launch of its Last Annual Report from 2024

12 December 2024|Announcement

The "Preliminary Overview of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean 2024" will be presented on Wednesday, December 18 at a press conference led by the United Nations organization's Executive Secretary, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs.

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will present on Wednesday, December 18 its annual flagship report Preliminary Overview of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean 2024, in which it examines the behavior of the region's economies over the current year and updates estimates for growth and other economic indicators in 2024 and 2025.

Specifically, the document will present new Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth estimates for the region and all of its countries in 2024 and 2025. In this edition, the report analyzes the economic and social dynamics of the year that is about to end and discusses the policy risks and challenges that the Latin America and Caribbean region will face in 2025 for overcoming the trap of low growth capacity in which it is mired.

The report will be unveiled at a hybrid (in-person and virtual) press conference led by José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, ECLAC's Executive Secretary, and Daniel Titelman, Director of the United Nations regional organization's Economic Development Division, at 11:00 a.m. local time in Chile (UTC/GMT -3:00).

According to the report, the dynamic of low growth rates for the region's countries is expected to continue in 2024 and 2025. The specific outcomes for the region's main economic indicators will be released by ECLAC at the press conference.
