Following Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher’s Advocacy, Biden-Harris Administration Announces $1.6 Million To Replace Old Transit Buses in Fort Bend County

Today, Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation will award the Texas Department of Transportation $1,600,000 to replace old transit buses in Fort Bend County with modern and zero-emission buses, manufactured by American workers. The announcement comes after Congresswoman Fletcher wrote a letter to the Biden-Harris administration advocating for this funding to improve and modernize public transportation and infrastructure in Texas' Seventh Congressional District.

"I am thrilled that the Biden-Harris administration will award $1.6 million to modernize and improve transit buses in Texas' Seventh Congressional District," said Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher. "This investment will help lower emissions, strengthen our economy, and improve and modernize our public transportation system. I was glad to vote for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act-the largest infrastructure investment in nearly a century-which made this award possible-and to advocate for this funding for Fort Bend from the Biden-Harris administration."

In 2021, Congresswoman Fletcher voted for the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, which funded the U.S. Department of Transportation's Pilot Program for Transit-Oriented Development Planning to improve public transportation throughout the United States. The funding announced today stems from the Pilot Program for Transit-Oriented Development Planning.
