Manutan is Committed to Optimising Packaging to Reduce Environmental Impact

To contribute to a more sustainable planet, the Manutan Group has chosen less polluting and more sustainable packaging solutions for all its products. As the European leader in B2B e-commerce, we handle millions of parcels each year. This is why packaging is one of our key areas of action to reduce our environmental footprint. Discover our commitments and the concrete actions implemented by our teams.

We Use Sustainable Materials

In our daily operations, we use 100% recycled FSCĀ®-certified cardboard. This material has the advantage of being renewable, recyclable, reusable, biodegradable, compostable, and bio-based. On average, it is recycled 7 to 8 times throughout its lifecycle.

At the same time, we continuously explore innovative packaging solutions. This has led us to adopt kraft paper tape made from 100% recycled and recyclable materials. Every day, over 2,000 parcels are sealed using this tape. While it represents an investment, the costs are partially offset by optimised usage. Indeed, our teams have been trained in best packing practices, reducing tape consumption by approximately 18%.

We Minimise Empty Space Wherever Possible

Our European logistics centre is equipped with B+ case sealers that automatically adjust the size of boxes to fit the dimensions and weight of the products. This system optimises space within the box by folding the edges to the correct height and sealing it with a lid.

Additionally, we prioritise the use of envelopes for smaller products whenever possible. Currently, nearly 400 envelopes made from 100% recycled and recyclable materials are sent daily. This also helps reduce delivery failures in cases where customers are absent.

We Reuse Materials

For more than two years, we have relied on a dedicated operator to repair broken pallets. Each year, over 10,000 pallets are fully restored or repurposed into new, non-standard formats. These are then reused for customer deliveries.

We have also installed a cushioning machine at our logistics centre. This machine creates packing materials from the cardboard we receive from our own suppliers. Thanks to this system, 52 tonnes of packing materials are produced each year.

We are committed to packaging our products efficiently, using sustainable materials, while maintaining quality until they reach the end customer. This is how we aim to contribute to a better world.
