Inter-Civilisational Dialogue among SCO Countries 2024

On 20 June 2024, SCO Deputy Secretary-General Sohail Khan addressed the conference, Inter-Civilisational Dialogue among SCO Countries 2024, held in Astana.

Sohail Khan noted that the SCO has been committed to promoting mutual understanding between peoples, developing and enriching diverse cultures and civilisations, and preserving folk traditions. People-to-people diplomacy plays a crucial role in the cooperation between the SCO countries and serves as a bridge between nations, providing opportunities to learn about each other's civilisations, history, traditions and ideologies, and helping maintain truly friendly ties between them.

The event was hosted by the State Council Information Office of the People's Republic of China and the SCO Secretariat, and supported by China International Communications Group, the Roza Otunbayeva Initiative International Public Foundation and other sponsors.

This conference brought together more than 130 representatives of the SCO member states for an extensive discussion on Fostering Inter-Civilisational Dialogue and Cooperation among SCO Countries and Promoting the Development and Progress of Human Civilisation.

According to the participants, the event has become an important platform for inter-civilisational exchange and enhancing mutual understanding between the SCO countries, and has created a good opportunity for working together to further global civilisational initiatives.
