A portion of the intersection at Third and Poplar Streets will be closed through January 5 for the Downtown Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza. If you're coming down Poplar Street, you will not be able to turn onto Third Street. This will allow people to cross Third Street safely when enjoying the light show.
"We wanted to give the team doing the installation a safe environment in which to finish setting up, and to create a safer path for all the people and families visiting Downtown during this time," says Macon-Bibb County Traffic Engineer Nigel Floyd.
The Macon Christmas Light Extravaganza kicks off on Friday, November 29, at 6:00 p.m. with a performance by the Macon Pops. The Extravaganza features more than 1,00,000 lights moving in time to music arranged and performed by Macon Pops in historic downtown Macon.
Hourly nightly shows happen every night beginning Friday from 6. Lights stay on (without motion or music) from 10-11pm each night. This event is FREE & open to the public!
The Christmas Lights will be located along Poplar Street between First Street & MLK Jr. Boulevard and Third Street between Plum Street & Cherry Street.
