How long have you worked for the federal government including military service? I have served in the Army since 2007, and I am currently in the Individual Ready Reserve. I started my federal career as a military technician in Columbus at an Area Maintenance Support Activity Shop in 2013. I was initially hired as a maintenance administrative supply technician and worked my way to supervisor. I managed that location for five years before moving on to DLA Disposition Services were I currently work today.

How long have you worked for DLA Disposition Services? I have worked with Disposition Services since Feb 2022.

What is your favorite thing about your line of work? Working with the staff. I enjoy helping everyone and with this role, I have that opportunity to not only work with everyone in Columbus, but we also travel and assist in training at other locations, train staff on base, and work with the Navy.

What is the best piece of advice someone has given you? My father always said, "To be early is to be on time, to be on time is to be late, and to be late is to be fired". He said to apply this, and I would stand out as an employee and there would be no limitations.

What do you think about when you hear Women's Equality Day? I believe it is a reminder of the hurdles overcome by the many women who faced violence and discrimination before me.

Why is it important to you that we celebrate Women's Equality Day? To enable us as a society both men and women to have more positive impact regarding human rights.

What challenges do women face today and how can understanding history help us overcome them? I would say gender-based violence is still our biggest challenge. Understanding the improvements we have made globally to limit or rid inequalities or power imbalances is something we all need to look at and work to continuously improve in our society. We will always have challenges, but if we teach our youth so that mindset can be altered generation after generation, I believe the current statistic that one in four women will be victim to gender-based violence can be reduced and hopefully eliminated.

Who's your biggest influence? My father. He is the type of person that looks for positive in any situation and never gives up.

Tell us something that most people might not know about you? I love to research things.

What was your first job? I worked in a machine shop running CNC Machines.

What is your best memory of working here? The cohesiveness.

What did you want to be when you grew up? An art psychologist.

Who is your hero? Probably My dad.

If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be? Photographer.

What are your hobbies? Photography and drawing.

What is your favorite quote? "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't force him drink - But if you're smart you make him thirsty before you get there".
