Suspect Arrested with Distribution Amounts of Fentanyl and Crack Cocaine

At about 6:20 PM, on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, officers assigned to the Drug Control Unit of District A-7 (East Boston) arrested Stephen Mattaliano, 47, of East Boston, on drug charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Waldemar Street when they observed a male individual riding a scooter in and out of the Suffolk Downs Train Station. Officers then observed the suspect exit the train state and ride over to the woods nearby.

Officers approached the male and observed a glassine pipe up to his mouth. Officers believed the suspect was ingesting crack cocaine, and requested his identification. Officers determined the suspect had an active arrest warrant and placed him into handcuffs. After further investigation, officers recovered eleven plastic bags of crack cocaine, and four plastic bags of fentanyl.

Mattaliano was placed under arrest and charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Class A, and Possession with Intent to Distribute Class B. He is expected to be arraigned in East Boston District Court.
