No emergency after warning siren sounds at Paia Bay this morning

The Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) is advisingthere is no emergency, following reports that an outdoor warning siren was heard at Pāʻia Bay this morning.

After the siren sounding was reported to Maui Police Department dispatch at 8:05 a.m., a MEMA alert was issued at 8:26 a.m. notifying the public that there is no emergency.

MEMA is investigating a potential malfunction in the siren and has notified the Hawaiʻi Emergency Management Agency to conduct maintenance on the siren.
