Improved access to public safety data through online tool
SAN ANTONIO - Citizens can stay informed about the police response in their neighborhood using a convenient online Public Safety Dashboard: Police Response, which provides access to calls for service, arrests, and offense reports for the city of San Antonio.
Citizens can skip a formal open records request and find police response information through maps, graphs, tables, data filter features and downloadable data options with the following type of information:
The data set available is from Jan. 1, 2024, through Sept. 30, 2024. The dashboard will update at the beginning of each month and provide data from the previous month. Eventually, the dashboard will provide year-to-year comparisons.
"This is the first step to greater access and transparency about the police response citywide or in the areas people are most concerned about, such as their places of business or residence. This dashboard will expand the department's ability to work with the community to address their concerns in a collaborative and transparent way," San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said.
This is the first in a series of three dashboards that will be released. Dashboards in partnership with the San Antonio Fire Department and Good Neighbors Program will be released next. Citizens will have an opportunity to provide feedback on what additional information they wish to see on the dashboard and how to enhance the user experience.
