Director-General of the Department of Information met with Director of Communication, FDCO, and leading global media agencies in London to step up strategic communication efforts

On 9 - 10 July 2024, Mr. Nikorndej Balankura, Director-General of the Department of Information and MFA Spokesperson, and team met with Ms. Janine Lloyd-Jones, Director of Communication at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office to exchange views and best practices on strategic communication, including guidelines for developing a strategic communication plan, the role of media professionals in this effort, overall communications personnel management and coordination and sharing of information within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, etc.

During the visit, the Director-General also met with leading global media agencies headquartered in London, namely (1) BBC, the UK's leading public service broadcaster that provides news and content worldwide, where Mr. Paul Danahar, BBC News Foreign Editor, led the delegation through the daily functioning of BBC and its anti-disinformation efforts, (2) The Economist, where the delegation was welcomed by Ms. Lara Boro, CEO of the Economist Group, and exchanged views on Thailand's priorities and current global trends, (3) Reuters, one of the world's largest and oldest news agencies established in London, where the delegation discussed trends in Thailand and the region with the Reuters team, led by Ms. Rachel Armstrong, Europe Editor, and (4) Monocle Magazine, where the delegation met with Mr. Andrew Tuck, Editor-in-Chief of Monocle, to discuss opportunities for collaboration and shared expectations for Thailand's image.
