Employee Spotlight: Seth Hawk

Good at paintball.

Afraid of sharks.

A computer and Internet nerd.

A pilot.

These are just a few declarations Seth Hawk, Director of E-Commerce at QuietKat, confessed in his interview.

Seth has been with QuietKat for just over three years, and according to Jake Roach, President and Co-Founder of the brand, Seth and his team have been "crushing it."

In a role where he manages all things direct-to-consumer sales and digital marketing, Seth explained how his leadership style has resonated with his team.

"I take an entrepreneur-first approach to everything I do," he said. "I treat every dollar and decision as if it were my own company."

When he started, e-commerce was a very small percentage of the brand's business - a market that seemed to shift from first to fifth overnight. QuietKat is currently one of the largest direct-to-consumer brands in the Vista Outdoor portfolio. When it came to choosing his career, Seth didn't stumble. His choice aligns well with his interests. He admits he has been a "computer and internet nerd" since he was a kid, and he proudly lists building his first website in middle school as one of his finest life accomplishments. Just more proof that e-commerce is a natural fit, and a course that will serve him well in his goal over the next five to 10 years, which is to build or run his own business.

Seth is clearly driven. On the side, he has obtained his private pilot's certificate and is working toward owning an aircraft in the future. He continually looks to stay up to speed in a quickly changing industry by listening to his peers, his managers, or his large library of podcasts featuring marketing leaders.

Seth says he is fortunate to raise his two kids, River and Olivia, in a beautiful mountain town like Glenwood Springs, Colorado. He also says starting a family has been one of the biggest changes he has navigated in his life.

"Getting married and intentionally starting a family at a young age forced me to realize what was important in life and focus my efforts into creating the career and home life that was important to my values," he said.

Seth's wife, Samantha, is a local first grade teacher. The family spends as much time outdoors as possible, participating in rafting and paddle boarding on the river, e-biking to new destinations, camping across Colorado and Utah, and following their two huskies on hikes - adventures with no risk of crossing paths with a shark.
