WASHINGTON - Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is seeking transparency from federal Offices of Inspectors General (OIGs) regarding their efforts to hold employees accountable for sexual misconduct. Grassley sent letters to 76 OIGs requesting data on all sexual harassment settlements OIGs have paid out using taxpayer dollars in the last five years.
"Inspectors General are responsible for shining a light on government abuse. Of all federal divisions, OIGs ought to be the most forthcoming about potential employee misconduct, but that's not currently the case. My oversight is aimed at strengthening trust with federal watchdogs to ensure justice for victims of sexual harassment. Even the watchdog needs to be watched," Grassley said.
