East Allegheny Community Council to Host Northside's 30th Annual Pumpkinfest

Event features Fall Fun, Health and Wellness Fair with educational, recreational and public safety booths

PITTSBURGH - The 30th Annual Pumpkinfest, a Children's Harvest Festival, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024, in Allegheny Commons East Park, at the corner of East Ohio Street and Cedar Avenue, in Pittsburgh's Northside. The festivities will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., with a rain date of Sunday, Oct. 13, 2024.

For three decades, Pumpkinfest has been the Northside's favorite gathering place to celebrate the arrival of autumn, serving as many as 1,500 children and their families every year.

Pumpkinfest provides a day of fun including a petting zoo, games, educational activities, live music, food, pumpkin decorating, hayrides, pony rides, amusement rides, crafts, giveaway items, and more for children 12 years and younger. To promote the importance of public safety in the community, organizers will be raffling off bikes and giving away bike safety helmets generously provided by Allegheny Health Network (AHN) and the AGH Auxiliary.

Attendees will also enjoy the Health and Wellness Fair hosted by the Allegheny General Hospital (AGH) Northside Partnership, including educational, recreational and public safety booths that provide families with positive information and resources on healthy life choices. At the onsite AHN mobile clinic, families can receive referrals to AHN primary care physicians and/or pediatricians.

"As one of Pittsburgh's most iconic festivals enters its third decade, I am honored to mark 30 epic years of celebrating the fall season with local families," said Barbara Burns, who will retire this year as co-founder and head organizer of the festival. "We are grateful to the volunteers who make this celebration happen."

Other community partners supporting the event include Highmark, AHN, Giant Eagle, The Buhl Foundation, Allegheny Center Alliance Church, One Northside, CitiParks Community Enrichment, Northside Leadership Conference and Northside North Shore Chamber of Commerce and Pittsburgh City Council.

Registration will begin at noon and entrance requires a $5 donation per child. Upon entry, all activities are free of charge for event attendees.
