Town of Cohocton - Amended Water System Improvements Project

Negative Declaration

Steuben County - The Town of Cohocton Town Board, as lead agency, has determined that the proposed Amended Water System Improvements Project will not have a significant adverse environmental impact. The original Town of Cohocton Water System Improvements Project involved replacing +/- 4,060 linear foot of existing 8 inch watermain along Wayland Street (NYS Route 245 & 21) with 8 inch PVC - between Naples / Cohocton Street and Beecher Street, new hydrants, main line valves, water services (within the ROW), and connections to all side streets, installation of +/- 1,700 linear foot of 8 inch watermain along Beecher Street (County Route 39A) with 8 inch PVC, and replacing +/- 500 linear foot of a 6 inch watermain along County Route 39A north of Mill Road. It also included replacing the existing pressure reducing valve stations with above grade valves located within a hotbox. The water storage tank servicing these watermains would be cleaned and sealed both interiorly/exteriorly. The original project involved the Well House being replaced with a new structure that is able to house the well pump, chemical feed systems, and electrical equipment, upgrading the control system to allow remote monitoring, and running a service line to allow collecting a representative sample of the point of entry into the system. The project has now been amended to incorporate the consolidation of the three PRV vaults into a single building and the additional construction of approximately 1,800 linear foot of water main to reconnect to the lower pressure zones. The project is located along Wayland Street (NYS Route 245 &21), Beecher Street (County Route 39A), Maple Avenue, Cohocton Street, and County Road 39 in the Town of Cohocton , New York.
